Tatekado Bridge

Tatekado Bridge

Tatekado Bridge in Shigemi, Kikuchi, that crosses a branch of the Kikuchi River was made by a famous stone cutter, Ujiichi, the well known Kangoro Hashimoto’s brother.

The stream is fast and there are many giant stones at the bottom of the river. To avoid the bridge collapsing because of the heavy rainfall, the foundation of the lower side of the bridge was built thicker.

This is one of the bridges that you can see the beautiful arch from the side.
